Covid-19 information

We are currently operating under Alert Level 2 of the Covid-19 guidelines. Here you will find information relating to our procedures and policies for Covid-19. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please contact us on 06 3069350.

This is a dynamic page that is regularly updated to align with the latest Government information. For a full list of guidelines and government advice, please visit the Covid-19 website.

What Level 2 means for us

To meet Government requirements for contact tracing, we have a QR code available to scan for the Government Covid-19 Tracer. This can be found at hotel reception and upon entering the restaurant.

Physical distancing is required between strangers, so we encourage you to keep 2m apart from people you are not familiar with.  This applies in the Hotel common areas such as the lobby, the foyer upstairs and the library.

We have made some changes to the way our rooms are set up, to ensure we are able to very effectively and carefully clean all surfaces. This means that our compendiums, pencils, papers and anything non-wipeable have been removed from your rooms. Our reception team are more than happy to help you with planning your activities during your stay, in absence of the compendiums.

In Union Square restaurant, we have removed some tables to ensure appropriate spacing between tables, and you will be served by one staff member during your meal where practicable. Note that also we are only able to serve seated guests under Alert Level 2.

We strongly advise making restaurant bookings given the reduced table numbers available in the restaurant.

Hygiene and safety

At The Martinborough Hotel, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our guests, staff and wider community is our first priority. We are following official advice from the Government and monitoring updates closely.

As New Zealand responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are committed to providing a safe and clean hotel experience that puts our guests first. Our housekeepers are using appropriate PPE and we have instigated the following procedures:

  • Frequent sanitisation of hotel common areas, such as the lobby and foyer;

  • Frequent sanitisation of high-touch surfaces, such as the reception desk and door plates;

  • Hand sanitizer available in rooms and at reception;

  • Regular staff briefings and training on hygiene, safety and emergency procedures.

A letter outlining our procedures and other relevant information is provided to all guests upon arrival. These include the Healthline 0800 number, a list of symptoms and instructions for anyone with symptoms.

In order to keep our people safe, the conditions of entry to The Martinborough Hotel are as follows:

  • That you are not in self-isolation or quarantine, or awaiting Covid-19 test results.

  • That you have not been in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case, or someone in self-isolation or awaiting Covid-19 test results.

  • That you do not have any cold or flu-like symptoms, such as fever, coughing or sneezing, difficulty breathing, sore throat and fatigue.
