Martinborough is located just over an hour from New Zealand's capital, Wellington. The village enjoys the relaxed pace of life and friendly community of a small rural community with the added benefits of world class wines and quality cafés and restaurants, right on your doorstep.
Martinborough's diverse range of shops and boutiques sooth your shopping desires, whilst the regions is abundant in outdoor explorations, from the Patuna Chasm walk, to the wild South East Coast of Tora, Ngawi, and Lake Ferry. There's something for everyone to indulge.
Cuisine & Dining
Explore the multitude of food offerings in the village and surrounding region. Only a walk down our stairs will lead you to Union Square, offering a fusion of French and NZ cuisines.
Venture out to explore and delight in the vast array of local vineyards, why not enjoy a wine tasting at Stonecutter Vineyard followed by a vineyard lunch at one of the many great spots.
Outdoors
An assortment of outdoor activities are on offer in our village, from gentle rolling bike rides through our vineyards, to hiking the stunning Patuna Chasm - a picturesque walk through ancient rock formations and native bush. Plenty of ideas for walking adventures can be found here. Biking guides and cycle hire can be arranged locally, or simply hit the trails yourself, knowing you can finish the day in with beautiful food and a comfortable bed at The Martinborough Hotel!
If you're in the mood for venturing further, head down to Cape Palliser and walk to the lighthouse (pictured) or out to Lake Ferry for a spot of fishing, or simply enjoy a pint and some fish 'n chips at the Lake Ferry Hotel.
World Class Vineyards
Martinborough is renowned for its award winning wines, so whilst you're here, a visit to the cellar doors is a must. Hire a bike from Green Jersey Tours if you're feeling active, or simply shuttle out and spend the afternoon with cellar door tastings.
Seasonal Events
Where do we start? Toast Martinborough is the annual wine and food festival that sees the village bursting with travelers all over the globe - here to delight in the music, food, and wine of our best local producers.
